Neil Simon's "Laughter on the 23rd Floor"

PRESENTED BY PARKER ARTS AND INSPIRE CREATIVE

Behind the glitz and the glamor of show business, there are teams of writers locked in smoky rooms, chugging down cups of coffee and struggling against the endless demands of their producers. In Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Neil Simon takes an unabashedly self-deprecating (and not-so-fictionalized) look at his early career as a showrunner. This show is for mature audiences only.

LOCATION:
Schoolhouse Theater

SHOWTIME:
Friday, March 16 - 7:30 PM
Saturday, March 17 - 2:00 & 7:30 PM
Sunday, March 18 - 2:00 PM
Friday, March 23 - 7:30 PM
Saturday, March 24 - 2:00 & 7:30 PM
Sunday, March 25 - 2:00 PM
The 50’s and 60’s were the era that television as we know it was born. It spawned the sitcom, the soap, the sci-fi opera, and behind it all were teams of visionary writers. Though Simon’s office wasn’t quite on the 53rd floor, he and his cowriters (including Sid Caesar, Mel Brookes and Lucille Kallen) created some landmark work. It wasn’t always glamorous, and rarely was it serious work. In Laughter, true to form, Simon points and laughs at all the little things that happened in his early career.

True to the characters depicted and the era in which the show takes place, this contains some explicit language and content. Discretion is advised.
