7th Annual Brass Band Festival

The annual Rocky Mountain Brass Band Festival will be held at the wonderful PACE theater on May 26. This 8th version of the festival will display music ensembles that are a unique representation of Colorado history. Brass bands date band to the early 19th century when over 2,000 brass bands performed in the state. Last year there were two bands who performed separately and then together in programs of music from the British style.

Both of these bands are extraordinary musical ensembles. One of the bands from Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak Brass Band, has been competing at the national level for the past two years. This group has been a consistent competitor with either first or second place performances at the US national brass band competitions.

PACE Center

Saturday, May 26 - 5:30 PM
This show will begin at 6:00 PM with ten piece ensembles. This music, to wet your interest, will have all of the musical interest of the larger ensembles without the sheer numbers of players on the stage.

Following the ten piece groups the larger brass bands, with somewhere between 30 and 34 players will perform wonderful music for everyone’s tastes. Following the last band on stage all band members will assemble to perform one work together. That will be a wonderful and magical expression of brass and percussion that will thrill everyone.

Don’t miss this terrific exploration of music played by brass and percussion. Admission is free so be there at the PACE Center on May 26 to hear the best of brass in the state!
